Welcome to Heavenly Feet!!

irene Welcome to my webpage. I would like to give you a brief outline about my business in particular and “the County” in general.

One of the comments I most hear from my clients and also visitors to the County is of the wonderful calming and healing presence experienced during a stay. Coming from Celtic roots this is certainly something of which I am aware. What better place to locate my business, Heavenly Feet.

Let me provide you with a short history on Reflexology and Aromatherapy, two of the therapies offered at Heavenly Feet.

Reflexology was practiced thousands of years ago in China, India and Egypt. The oldest documentation depicting medical practitioners treating feet and hands in 2,500 BC is to be found in an Egyptian papyrus.

Zone Therapy a form of Reflexology developed in the late 14 th century was used throughout Europe.

Several tribes of North American Indians used pressure to the feet as a source of healing. Jenny Wallace, a full-blooded Cherokee Indian says, “Your feet walk upon the earth and through this, your spirit is connected to the Universe. Our feet are our contact with the earth and the energies that flow through it.”

Aromatherapy is thought to have been practiced by most of the world’s ancient civilizations and believed to be at least 6000 years old. Sense of smell was highly acute and herbs and aromatics were commonly used in the preservation of food; in aids to digestion, or to treat a variety of ailments.

Aromatherapy as we know it today can trace its origins back to ancient Egypt. A medical papyrus believed to date back to around 1500 BC contains many methods of application that are similar to those used in Aromatherapy up to and including this present time.

Aromatherapy is the practice of using naturally distilled organic essences of plants, called essential oils, to promote the health and wellbeing of mind, body and emotions. Essential oils work in two ways:

  • By penetration of the skin, reaching the capillaries, they are distributed throughout the body.
  • By inhalation of the aroma, they affect the olfactory response, thus influencing behaviour and emotions

So take a step back in time, visit Heavenly Feet and experience for yourself what these modalities can do for you.

Yours in health and healing, Irene.
